Student Org Basics

Student Org Basics is held completely online this year! The links below are the videos from 2014-2015. The newest videos will be released shortly and the deadline extended to acommodate their late release. Please check back frequently.

Student Orgs 101
Money Money Money
Student Center Operations

Anyone can watch the video and learn the basics. In fact, we encourage you to share the videos with all officers of your organization-- you could watch them together in a group at your next e-board meeting. Certain people must take accompanying quizzes for completion of this annual requirement. Presidents (as listed on your org's Owl Connect roster) must take the quiz for Student Orgs 101. Treasurers must take the quiz for Money Money Money. Finally, two people (officer or member) who are heavily involved in event planning must take the quiz for Student Center Operations. (If your org has non-traditional officer positions, contact the Program Coordinator for Student Organizations to discuss.)

All quiz takers must correctly answer 12 of 15 questions on the first attempt (80%). Orgs who score below 80% will be required to attend additional training to review the video material. Orgs will be given two weeks from the launch of the 2015-2016 videos to complete this requirement or risk suspension of privileges such as STARS rewards, TSG Allocations, or space reservations. Please contact Student Activities if you have any questions!

STARS In-Person Workshops & Events Calendar

The STARS Workshop calendar is integrated with Owl Connect. This allows us to provide you with the most up-to-date times, locations, and information. All workshops and descriptions can be found on Owl Connect’s Events Calendar by clicking on the “STARS” categories. This year the workshops are divided into two categories: STARS-Leadership and STARS- Inclusion. Learn more about their differences in the STARS Brochure. On Owl Connect, please read the workshop descriptions carefully to select the workshops that best suit your organization's leadership development and organizational management goals.

New workshops and events qualifying for STARS credit will be added throughout the year. Please check the calendar frequently.

STARS Workshop Library

Bring the workshops to your organization! Our Workshop Library contains 13 topics especially selected to enhance your organizational development! These workshops can help you fulfill certain STARS-Leadership workshop criteria all while encouraging more discussion and reflection among your officers and members. To borrow a workshop CD, please submit this form listing the top 3 titles you'd like to borrow and the date and time you'd like to pick the CD up from our office. Please allow for 2-3 days' advanced notice to check that the title is available and for preparation of materials. Organizations may only borrow 1 CD at a time. The STARS Workshop Library does not serve as "make-up" sessions for the STARS In-Person Workshops, including Inclusive Leadership and Transitional Leadership.
